Quitting leadership not in cards, May says
OTTAWA — Elizabeth May said Friday she is embarrassed – and a little less naive – after the public disclosure of an e-mail to the Green Party’s governing council in which she said she would have a difficult time staying on as leader if she were removed from the party’s budget review committee.
Ms. May said emphatically Friday that she was not issuing an ultimatum.
“I wasn’t threatening to quit. I was expressing a sense of honest regret. If they should take such a step, what would it say? How would I feel? Would I really feel like staying on?” the Green Party leader Leader said. as she took a train to spend the weekend with her extended family – her first weekend off the job since Easter.
